Education and Free Rice

FreeRice might be one of the easiest ways you can help donate rice, through the United Nations World Food Programme. FreeRice was actually donated to the UN World Food Programme and is a non-profit site. Originally beginning in 2007, FreeRice is a fun way to combat world hunger.

Let me explain how FreeRice works! It’s set up as a multiple choice question and for every correct question you answer, ten grains of rice are donated. Pretty simple right? FreeRice has questions on “math, science, geography, art history, foreign languages and more”. FreeRice automatically adjusts the level of questions to be appropriate for anyone from youth to seniors and all forms of education!

In the first ten months, 42 billion grains of rice were donated! Since FreeRice started, there has been enough rice to feed over 4.32 million people for one day! The two main goals of FreeRice are:

  • Provide education to everyone for free.
  • Help end world hunger by providing rice to hungry people for free.
Give FreeRice a try, please! It’s a lot of fun and great for all ages! To learn more about FreeRice, visit their About Us. Also, don’t forget to follow FreeRice on Twitter!
